Legal Seminar Application Requirement for PK-3 Credential Program

A candidate must complete the legal seminar requirements prior to entering the program. 

  1. School of  Education (SoE) Legal Seminar: This brief seminar covers information about illegal discrimination, sexual harassment and suspected child abuse and reporting requirements. 

  2. ECS Legal and Professional Standards Seminar: This seminar covers basic information on Discrimination and sexual harassment, confidentiality requirements, NAEYC code of ethics, and Mandated Reporter Training. 

Candidates who currently attend SSU are required to complete these seminars and submit proof of completion when submitting their application. Candidates should contact the Credentials and Graduate Admissions Office (credentials.office@sonoma.edu) and request that the legal seminar/s be placed in their Canvas account. 

Once the seminar/s have been completed, the candidate will attach the Certificate of Completion to their application. 

Candidates who do not attend SSU cannot complete this requirement until they have been fully matriculated. Once they have received an SSU email, they will then contact the Credentials and Gradute Admissions Office (credentials.office@sonoma.edu) to request the seminar is placed in their account. 

Candidates will have a hold placed on their account until the seminars have been completed.
