College of Education, Counseling, and Ethnic Studies Admissions Requirements
Because of the nature of some of the College of Education, Counseling, and Ethnic Studies programs, there can be additional admissions requirements:
1. Evaluation of International College Completion Requirement:
The College of Education, Counseling, and Ethnic Studies requires applicants to have completed a recognized baccalaureate degree at an accredited college or university. International degrees or documentation of college completion outside the United States must be evaluated by an external evaluation service approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and by the SSU International Admissions office. The evaluation should state the U.S. educational equivalent of a BA/BS degree. Applicants are responsible for securing the evaluations and for any costs the evaluations entail.
Applications for admission to College of Education, Counseling, and Ethnic Studies programs will not be complete until these evaluations have been submitted to Sonoma State University Office of Admissions and to the College's Credentials Office.
All students must submit international transcripts to one of the following third-party evaluation service.
Please note: Additional transcripts are not required to be sent to the Office of Admissions when using these credential evaluation services.
Information on agencies approved by the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing can be found on the CTC website. For Credential Program applicants only.
2. English Language Requirement:
Post Baccalaureate and Graduate applicants, please refer to SSU's Language Proficiency requirement options.
