A total of at least 20 hours of pre-program field experience is required and MUST be completed by the time applicants apply to the program. 

The field experience must comply with the following guidelines:

• 20 hours must be spent with a group of students at the PK-12 grade level.

• One-on-one observation hours will not count towards this requirement.

• Observation must include an educational component. The students must be engaged in a learning activity. This activity can be sports, arts and crafts, dance, etc.

• Hours must be completed within the past two years from the time of application to the program.

Experience that is not done in a classroom should first be approved by Credentials Office to ensure it will meet the admissions guidelines. 

Contact the Credentials Office if hours were completed in more than one place for instructions on what is accepted as proof.
